A Photo A Day-ish.

The Arno River on Sunday 6 November 2016.

Almost 50 years after the disastrous flood in Florence on 4 November 1966, the heavens opened and the river swelled again. It was eerie to see the dark waters rise so quickly, and it was easy to imagine how scared the residents must have been during the events of 1966. Luckily the rain stopped and the levels dropped, but it was a reminder of the power of nature, and the hold it has over our man-made societies.
