Who doesn’t love cake? And Tea? Basically no one.
So who wouldn’t love to eat cake and drink tea in a beautiful, historic library?
Honestly, what could be more quintessentially British than Afternoon Tea at The British Institute of Florence. Every Thursday from 16:30 to 18:00, anyone can drop by the library for some lovely homemade refreshments, for a little fee of €1.50 which goes towards helping maintain the library. Whether you’re a student, or a local in Florence, it’s a great way to meet some new people, or bump into familiar faces.
Plus, the cups they serve the tea in are roughly the same size as my head, which gives you plenty of time to mingle amongst everyone, whilst you finish your giant sized drink. Walking into a room full of people can be intimidating, but this is the perfect setting to mix in. The book lined shelves are perfect browsing material if you find yourself temporarily between groups; there are numerous comfy armchairs for more intimate conversations; and the library attracts all manner of fabulous visitors, so there’s plenty of things to talk about. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to hone your new (or well polished) language skills!
If you’re in Florence, why not come along.
